It's Me, It's All of Us
An exploration device for identity, image, and collective mark-making | Julián Rodríguez Vigo
"Because sometimes the image is not an end in itself, but a tool to reflect upon ourselves, recognize ourselves, and define who we are in this world as everything unfolds."
This activation presents an interactive device where the collective gaze constructs the artwork in real time. Held within the framework of The Night of the Museums, the space turns into a crossroads between self-portraiture, perception of the other, and shared memory. Each participant intervenes on the canvas, leaving a unique trace that, when layered with others, forms a grand choral portrait.
Through immediate decisions, lines, and marks, the artwork questions the boundaries of individuality: where does one's own gesture end, and where does the group's imprint begin? The process becomes an exercise in reflective mirroring, where the canvas operates as a living record of the faces, emotions, and identities inhabiting the experience.
The result does not seek static or flawless representation, but rather captures the fleeting pulse of a community in constant movement. The image becomes an event, a symptom, and a collective refuge.
